As the United Nations drafts their latest development agenda, the International Labor Organization (ILO) is urging them to include greater social care for mothers and children. The statistic reported by the ILO are alarming, including facts such as some 800 women die daily during child birth, 28% of women world wide receive cash benefits during their maternity leave and that child poverty is on the rise. The ILO is pushing for universal maternal and child health care as the solution to what they see as a "very preventable problem".
